INTEGRATIVE THERAPY APPROACH

This approach characterizes itself because it allows you to integrate different modalities and use various tools to see the person in a broader context. It allows you to treat various struggles  within mental health such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, grief, low self-esteem, trauma and more.

In my practice I will integrate different trauma informed tools and techniques from two specific theories: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), which are characterized by focusing on modifying feelings and behaviors and using techniques such as mindfulness, exposure therapy and others.

profesional EXPERIENCE

I’ve had the privilege of working with multiple organizations and communities over the course of my training in the past six years. During my master's degree at BU I worked at “Casa Esperanza”, an outpatient clinic specialized in helping the Latinx community in Boston that are struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse. I also worked at Boston Medical Center (BMC) in the Boston Emergency Services Team (BEST) providing mental health and crisis support services.

During my undergraduate degree I got to work with diverse populations from children to older adults. During those four years I worked at the community child development center Los Pequeños de Villalpando, at a secondary school called 48 Narciso Bassols Technical Secondary School, with the community of the parish Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, at the National Institute of Perinatology Isidro Espinosa de los Reyes. In these four organizations I focused on providing emotional support and psychoeducation.

I also worked in an organization called Casa de los Amigos that provides support to the migrant community, in PreVIHene an organization that works with HIV positive patients and family members, in an organization called Fundación de Apoyo a la Juventud I.A.P that works with young people in vulnerable situations, in the psychiatric unit of a hospital called Hospital General Mexicano providing individual emotional support and in Cooperativa Raíz working with the indigenous artisan community.

Due to my training I have developed various skills that guide me in my profession. I have worked with various clients individually and in group settings in Spanish and English. I have learned to diagnose, create treatment plans and safety plans, do compensatory assessments, lead therapeutic groups, create judgment-free spaces for emotional support, crisis intervention, provide psychoeducation, and more.
